MILLENAAR AND MEN’S XC TAKE HOME TITLES AT FSU INVITATIONAL

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of South Alabama women's cross country runner Carolien Millenaar set a new 5k personal best Friday morning at the FSU Invitational held at Appalachee Regional Park and crossed the line with a time of 17:34.0 to earn her second title in as many races this fall in the Women's Open race.

They Jaguar men also took home their second team title of the season at the 8k event as they won the Men's Open posting 31 points. Led by Kriami Yego (25:19.2) and Onesmus Kemboi (25:31.5), who placed second and third, had all five of its scorers finish 12th or better.

NOTES
- The race for the South Alabama men marked the first 8k event of the fall for the squad.
- The Jaguar men were paced by Yego who finished second in the 8k race with a time of 25:19.2. The freshman led six of the nine splits in the race.
- With his third-place finish, Kemboi has now placed inside the top 10 in six of his last seven races, including crossing the line in the top 5 in five of those races. He has also now finished 22nd or better in 16 of his 17 career races.
- Sand earned his seventh career top 10 finish as he crossed the line with a time of 25:47.2, placing him sixth, while Pudner also earned his sixth career top 10 finish on Friday as he placed eighth (25:49.6).
- On the women's side, Millenaar set a new 5k personal best with a time of 17:34.0, two second better than the previous mark, to help win the individual title.
- The win marked the second in as many races this fall for the senior and was the fourth of her career.
- She has now finished 11th or better in six of her last seven races.
- With her 13th-place finish, Lindstad now has seven top 15 finishes for her career.

- On the performance of the men today: "The men competed well, but every race this season, the competition is going to get a little tighter. I thought they were tentative today, and they rose to the level of competition. I want to see progress in the coming weeks. I'm pleased with our back time, and in the performance of our underclassmen – Jared Peaslee and Charlie Slaughter."
- On Millenaar's performance and the rest of the Jaguar women: "Carolien competed very well. She was patient and timed her move for the finish perfectly. I'm pleased that the women are moving in the right direction every week."

- The Jaguars will compete at the Blazer Classic held at Veterans Park in Hoover, Ala., on Fri., Oct. 16.
