NOTES
- This marks the third-straight season that the Jaguars have competed at the Blazer Classic.
- However, this will be the first season that the meet will be held at Veterans Park, as the previous two have been ran at the Montevallo Course in Montevallo, Ala.
- South's men finished fourth out of 25 teams during the 2019 meet, while the women were tied for third in the 29-team field.
- Andonet Cheruiyot placed second with a time of 20:49.35 at last fall's meet in the women's 6k, while Onesmus Kemboi placed fourth with a time of 23:57.34 in the men's 8k.
- Senior runner Carolien Millenaar picked up her second Sun Belt Conference Runner of the Week honor two weeks ago after setting a new 5k-personal best at the FSU Invitational crossing the line with a time of 17:34.0 to place first.
- Millenaar has now captured individual titles in both of her meets this fall and the fourth of her career, while she has now finished inside the top 15 in 11 of her 16 career races.
- Kirami Yego has led the Jaguar men in both races taking home the individual title during week one of the season at the Azalea City, and second two weeks ago at the FSU meet.
- Kemboi has placed third and second, respectively, at the first two meets this season. He has now placed inside the top 10 in six of his last seven races, including crossing the line in the top 5 in five of those races, and finished 22nd or better in 16 of his 17 career races.
- As a group, South Alabama's men have taken home the team titles at both the Azalea City Classic and at the FSU Invitational this fall.
THEY SAID IT
Head coach Parker Cowles
- On his the final regular-season meet: "It is the time of year where our focus is completely on racing. UAB has put together a great field that will really push us and I think will help us prepare for the conference championship. I am excited to race some of the programs we rarely see like South Carolina and Auburn and also happy we have the chance to compete with Arkansas State. My hope is that both teams go out and race the best programs in their respective fields. Results from deep fields say a lot about a team's ability to compete and race when it counts."
