THEY SAID IT
Head coach Nick Brochu
- On the start of dual-match play: "Our guys are definitely excited to start the season. We had a very competitive weekend this past weekend in Tuscaloosa. Our main focus at that tournament was about the process and how we competed, which I felt we did well. The only thing that matters now is 'W's'. We are going into this weekend's match with a different mindset.
- On Florida State: "We've played Florida State pretty much every year since I've been here and they are an extremely competitive program. We're going to have a similar challenge to what we saw last weekend against Alabama. We're going to have to really dig. If we are going to have a chance to get a win on their home court, it's going to be important that we capitalize on the opportunities that we have. Facing a team like Florida State, we aren't going to have a lot of opportunities, so we need to seize the moment when they do come around. Doubles play will also be important for us, because that sets the tone for singles. If we can surprise them by taking the doubles point, it may open the door for us."
- On South's lineup: I have full confidence in the guys at the top of our lineup; they are as talented as pretty much any team in the country. The top of our lineup should match up well with FSU's. We have a lot of young players comprising the rest of our lineup and that's going to be a good challenge for them. We'll be able to see how they are able to deal with the pressure. At the same time, we've been practicing very hard and we are looking forward to competing this weekend."
