JAG WOMEN’S GOLF TO HOST 2019 USA INTERCOLLEGIATE

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama women's golf team will open the 2019-20 season this weekend when it hosts the 2019 USA Intercollegiate at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Magnolia Grove Crossings Course.

The three-day, 54-hole event will consist of 18 holes each day on the Crossings Course, with round one set to kick off with tee times at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Sunday's second round will also feature 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m., while Monday's final round will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring for all three rounds will be available through GolfStat.com.

The 16-team field will feature UAB, Little Rock, Arkansas State, Bethune-Cookman, Georgia State, Grand Canyon, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, Lamar, ULM, Murray State, North Florida, Samford, Troy, Western Kentucky and South Alabama.

USA's Nele Mattner will tee off from No. 1 on the Crossings Course Monday, followed by Caroline Berge at 8:09 a.m., Belinda May (8:18 a.m.), Julie Hovland (8:27 a.m.) and Siti Shaari (8:36 a.m.). Jaguar freshman Carlota Terron will play individually and is scheduled to tee off at the first tee at 9:03 a.m.

California Baptist (282-296-282?860) won last year's USA Intercollegiate, while Western Kentucky's Mary Joiner (71-68-69?208) won individual medalist honors.

South Alabama returns four letterwinners from last year's Sun Belt Conference championship team, including 2018 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Siti Shaari, who also earned first-team all-league honors, and Second-Team All- Sun Belt selection Julie Hovland. Additonally, USA welcomes two newcomers in Belinda May and Carlota Terron.
