Head coach Steve Campbell
-On what the team needs work on over the next week after yesterday's scrimmage: "We need to work on our perimeter blocking and some of our assignments in that area. We need to get a little more movement on the offensive line and we need to create some more explosive plays, we're still looking for some of those plays offensively but I know we've got them. We just need to figure out the right way to get them the ball and they have to take advantage of their opportunities. We didn't have the number of explosive plays in the scrimmage that we want to have, but I'm glad to see that from a defensive perspective."
-On the players answering today's challenge from the coaches: "I was pleased with today coming back after yesterday's scrimmage. We talked with the players about the fact that the scrimmage wasn't exactly what we wanted it to be, definitely from an offensive standpoint. There were also some things that we need to work on defensively. We challenged them to come out with a lot of energy and juice, and make today our best day and I think we did that. The guys really flew around; it wasn't perfect, but it's not going to be right now. The goal for us is to get better every day and we are definitely a better football team after today's practice."
-On the health of the team a week into camp: "For being seven days in with five of those in full pads, we're pretty healthy. We've got a bump and a bruise here and there, but the guys have fought through it well."
Up next: South wraps up the first full week of the preseason with a workout at the James A. and Frances H. Yance Football Practice Facility that is slated to get underway at 9:30 a.m.
