NOTES
- South Alabama moved to 3-0 at Hancock Whitney Stadium after handing ULM a 52-35 loss on Saturday night. The Homecoming win moved the Jaguars to 11-4 in such contests.
- The Jags have won two of their last three Sun Belt openers after the win over the Warhawks. They also beat App State, 48-14, in the 2024 opener.
- South Alabama has scored on its opening possession in four of five games, including a touchdown in all three home contests.
- Keenan Phillips, PJ Martin and Trae'von Dunbar have combined for 871 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Against ULM, Dunbar led the bunch with 91 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Martin went for 58 yards and score, while Phillips ran for 42 yards and a score.
- South Alabama ranks eighth nationally in time of possession at 33:56 per game. The Jags have held the possession advantage in four of their five games.
- Jared Hollins was named to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 list after throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns against ULM. He connected with Brendan Jenkins on a 72-yard score on the second play of the game and then found Anthony Eager for a pair of passing touchdowns. Eager's second was a 69-yard strike from Hollins late in the third quarter.
- Cole Blaylock leads South Alabama with 32 tackles, including an 11-tackle performance at Kentucky. The Jaguar defense has forced eight turnovers, including a fumble recovery for a 21-yard score by Masey Lewis against ULM.
- South Alabama has scored on 18 of its 21 red-zone trips this season, including 14 of the 15 opportunities at Hancock Whitney Stadium.Â
ABOUT ARKANSAS STATE
- Arkansas State enters 2-3 and 0-1 in Sun Belt play after dropping its opener against Louisiana. The Cajuns hit a 37-yard field goal with no time left on the clock to hand the Red Wolves the loss.
- Butch Jones is in his sixth season as Arkansas State's head coach.
- The Red Wolves average 24.0 points and 348.4 yards of offense per game. They have allowed 23.4 points and 399.6 yards per contest.
