THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Richard Moodie
Overall thoughts: "There were some improvements from last week. We wanted to come here defensively and get organized and not concede in the first 10 minutes like we did against Lipscomb, and we played 45 minutes of good soccer. Defensively we looked organized, and offensively, when we got a hold of the ball, we did OK, we just struggled with the pressure that they put us under. Alabama are much improved and they looked good. We got the challenge we needed and we can go back to the drawing board and figure out how to prepare for Tennessee Tech next week."
On conceding goals on set pieces: "We have to take part of the blame for that because in preseason games we try to rotate bodies and get players playing time. When you make those adjustments, it changes things on set pieces. That's really where it went wrong. It's something we can go back and look at where we can adjust, and be a bit more organized in those areas. We take a lot of pride in being organized at least on corners, so to concede off one it hurts a little. We gave away a penalty on a crazy foul but we could've had one in the first half that looked exactly the same."
On the new players' performances: "We had a few girls that played close to 90 minutes and a few more that played close to 10 or 15 because they're still banged up from last week. The new players played exceptionally well. I still think we've yet to see the XI that we thought would start the season, and it looks like we're not going to get to see them for a little longer."
