Soccer Falls to Mississippi State in Season Opener

STARKVILLE, Miss. – South Alabama soccer dropped the program's season opener to Mississippi State, losing 3-0 on Wednesday in Starkville.

KEY MOMENTS:
  • 4' | The Bulldogs' Kati Anne Shepherd finds an open ball in the box to send a strike between the pipes, giving State a 1-0 lead.
  • 78' | After 70 minutes with no score, State's Hailey St. Johnson sent a left-footer into the net.
  • 88' | With less than two minutes on the clock, the Bulldogs' Reganne St. Morris sent a strike into the bottom right.

KEY STATS:
  • Mackenzie Smith, a fifth-year and West Virginia transfer, recorded nine saves between the pipes – the Jags' most in a single game since Oct. 27, 2024 (ULM).
  • Senior captain Amelia Campanella recorded her tenth-consecutive full 90.
