MOBILE, Ala. – Rising University of South Alabama sophomore Hunter Appling was the lone Jaguar to qualify for the 2019 USA Track & Field U20 (Junior) Outdoor Championships, to be held Friday through Sunday in Miramar, Fla. Appling will compete in the 110m hurdles scheduled for Saturday at 2:18 p.m.
The Cullman, Ala., native set a new Jaguar 110m hurdles record of 14.04 seconds—the fastest time in the Sun Belt Conference this season—on his way to first-team all-league recognition. He finished 39th overall at the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round with a time of 14.18 seconds.
The minimum qualifying standard set for the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships 110m hurdles was 14.20 seconds. Â Â
