NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama sophomore Nikola Kohoutova was voted the Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Wednesday after posting an undefeated singles week.

The Kralupy nad Vltavou, Czech Republic native is the second Jaguar to earn player-of-the-week honors and she picks up the award for the first time in her career.

In USA's 2-1 week, including 2-0 in Sun Belt play, Kohoutova went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles with two straight-sets victories. She lost just four games total in her two conference wins on court 4, defeating Celia Estevan of Troy 6-0, 6-3 and Berta Masdevall Masip of Arkansas State 6-0, 6-1.

Kohoutova moved up to No. 3 in the Jags' loss at Memphis, where she outlasted Aleks Topalovic 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

In doubles, Kohoutova teamed with Yurie Takanishi for a 6-3 victory vs. Troy.

Kohoutova leads the team with a 15-2 singles record and has won eight matches in a row.

The Jaguars close out their home schedule this weekend with matches against ULM on Saturday and Louisiana on Sunday.
