KEY DOUBLES PERFORMERS:
- Manal Ennaciri/Kenza Elakili went 2-2 over the weekend, defeating opponents from Florida Southern and Jacksonville State 6-1 and 6-4, respectively.
UNDER THE WEATHER:
The tournament was cut short due to inclement weather, eliminating
Jana Rovira and
Cristina Tchanichev's opportunities to compete for singles championships in their respective flights.
QUOTED:
- Head Coach Jaco Keyser on this weekend's results: "It was a very valuable preseason tournament with plenty of matches. As a team, quite a mixed bag of results. Some of it is due to the fact that, from a fundamental standpoint of executing the basics of tennis, we're still not at the level where we need to be. We'll get back on the practice court and rectify that."
- Coach Keyser on the individual performances: "From an individual standpoint, it was nice to see Jana and Cristina win three matches on the trot and play for singles championships in their respective flights. It was a little disappointing that the rain came in and robbed them of that opportunity. But, overall, a very valuable weekend."
UP NEXT:
The Jags will compete in the ITA Southern Regionals on Oct. 13-17 in Auburn, Ala.
