AUBURN, Ala. – South Alabama Women's Tennis competed in the ITA Southern Regionals this week in Auburn, Ala.
Manal Ennaciri led the Jaguars in singles, making it to the quarterfinals.
KEY SINGLES PERFORMERS:
- Manal Ennaciri, a junior from Mohammadia, Morocco, went 5-1 this week, making a strong run to the quarterfinals. Ennaciri defeated opponents from UAB, McNeese State, Troy, Jacksonville State and Mississippi State before falling to Kristina Paskauskas (Alabama) on Thursday. Paskauskas would go on to be a co-champion of the tournament.
- After losing her first matchup against Nera Tesankic from UAB, Jana Rovira went 3-0, defeating opponents from Alabama A&M, Samford and Tulane.
- Cristina Tchanichev went 3-1 this week, defeating opponents from Troy, Samford and Louisiana.
- Ava Rath went 3-2 this week, and Rio Maeda Jade Marie went 2-1.

- On the team's success in the tournament: "This was a really successful tournament for the girls. With an overall record of 21-12, that's probably one of our better performances at a regional tournament … Great signs there from a performance standpoint. We saw consistency this weekend in how we embrace the grind. We're starting to take on the identity of a tough, gritty, blue-collar team, and that's something we always want for our program."
- On Manal Ennaciri's performance: "That was definitely a nice breakthrough performance for Manal. She's been having better practices. She should take confidence from her appearance in the quarterfinals, and, more importantly, the team should take confidence in that."
