NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama golfer Julie Hovland was named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Athlete of the Week, as announced Thursday by the league office. This is the sophomore's second Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Hovland shot the lowest round by a Jaguar since 2007 and tied the second-lowest round in program history with a 5-under-par 67 in the final round of last weekend's Bama Beach Bash. She led the Jaguars to a runner-up finish, just one stroke off the pace, while finishing second individually with a 54-hole score of 217 (+1).
The Bergen, Norway native was among the top 20 in all five statistical categories, including leading the field in par-4 scoring (3.92, -2).
USA will end the regular season at the 2019 LSU Tiger Golf Classic held Friday through Sunday at the University Club in Baton Rouge, La.
