HARDY TWINS CONTINUE PRO SOCCER CAREERS IN CYPRUS

MOBILE, Ala. – Following a successful season in Iceland, former University of South Alabama soccer student-athletes Rio and Steffi Hardy have joined Apollon Ladies F.C. in Cyprus.

The pair have made in impact in their short time with the club, as Rio has scored seven goals in just three games, while Steffi has played all 90 minutes in each of her three appearances.

Through 17 matches, Apollon is 15-1-1 with a plus-116 goal differential.

Apollon holds the Cypriot First Division record with nine league titles, all from 2008-17, and has reached the round of the 32 in the UEFA Women's Champions League six times.

Last season with Grindavik in Iceland, Rio led the team with 10 goals, and Steffi made 14 starts at defender.

Rio finished second in South Alabama history in both career points (103) and goals (43), and is the school's all-time leader in game-winning goals (13). She was named First Team all-Sun Belt Conference three times and was the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Steffi was also a three-time First Team all-Sun Belt honoree and was voted the 2015 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. The Jaguars posted 41 clean sheets from 2014-17, the most by any Sun Belt school in that span.
