USA TRACK & FIELD WRAPS UP INDOOR REGULAR SEASON AT BULLDOG INVITATIONAL

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of South Alabama track & field programs completed the indoor regular-season schedule Friday at Samford's Bulldog Invitational.  
 
Christian Ellis earned his second consecutive triple jump victory with a 15.20m (49-10.50) mark and placed fourth in the long jump with a 6.69m (21-11.50) effort.

NOTES AND RESULTS
-Autavia Fluker finished third in the women's event and moved from fourth to third in the Jaguar program records with an 18.50m (60-08.50) weight throw mark. Michaela Preachuk's 17.99m (59-00.25) effort earned the senior a fourth-place finish.
-Fluker took the second-place spot in the shot put event after a 15.15m (49-08.50) throw. Sophomore Angeline Smit recorded a season-best 13.78m (45-02.50) mark.
-D.J. Taylor and Jalen Boyd's 200m times of 22.45 seconds and 22.48 seconds, respectively, rank among the 10 fastest men's races in program history.
-Three Jaguars recorded top-five finishes in the high jump. Freshman Harry Barthelemy tied his career-best effort, 2.00m (6-06.75), to place fifth in the men's event. Seniors Olivia Swan and Taylor Dames took third and fifth with marks of 1.70m (5-07.00) and 1.65m (5-05.00), respectively, on the women's side.
-USA saw personal-best performances in both 800m races. Larry Lombard covered the distance in 1:52.46 to take the runner-up spot in the men's race and the fourth spot in the all-time school record books. Shay Lee crossed the line in 2:21.95 and finished sixth in the women's race.
-Senior Alex Elam placed sixth in the men's 60m preliminaries with a time of 7.00 seconds.
-Emilie Berge ran the women's 60m hurdles preliminaries in a season-best 8.80 seconds. The junior placed fifth in the long jump after recording a 5.63m (18-05.75) mark.
 
UP NEXT
The Jaguars will compete in the Sun Belt Indoor Conference Championships Feb. 18-19 in Birmingham, Ala.

QUOTES FROM COACH BRUESKE
On today's performances: "We had some solid performances today, which gives us some momentum heading into the conference championships. It was good to see a few people step it up. Ellis did another good job. Lombard had a solid opener in the 800m."
 
On preparing for the conference meet: "At this point we want to get some of our student-athletes healed up and rested. Our league is very tough, so we just want to be as ready and healthy as possible."
