NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama track & field's Emilie Berge and Graham Collins were named the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Field Athletes of the Week, as announced Wednesday by the league office. The pair swept the multis portion of the LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational held Thursday and Friday.Â
Berge won the pentathlon with a total of 3,970 points, which leads the Sun Belt Conference this season and is the second-best score in school history. The junior from Iveland, Vest-Agder, Norway, finished first in the high jump (1.73m, 5-08.00) and long jump (5.71m, 18-09.00) events. Â
Collins set a school record with 5,122 points and a first-place finish in the heptathlon. The freshman from Mobile, Ala., took first place in the long jump (6.72m, 22-00.75) and pole vault (4.50m, 14-09.00) portions of the event and finished more than 400 points ahead of the runner-up.Â
USA concludes the regular-season indoor schedule Feb. 8 at Samford's Bulldog Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. Â
