THEY SAID IT
Head coach Nick Brochu
- On Sunday's singles play: "It was a very long day, but the guys did very good. I'm very happy with the way Clément [Marzol] and Loïc [Cloes] were able to bounce back [from Saturday's losses]. After you have a bad performance, you have to put it behind you and that's definitely what they did today. Clément had a dominating performance against Auburn's top player and Loïc just took care of business against his opponent from Alabama. Louis [Delcour] put up a really good fight, but just ran out of juice and you could tell that in his play. He was up against a very consistent and physical player, which forced Louis to change his style of play in order to be able to compete. He did that in the second set and was able to make a comeback, but it was his seventh match [counting doubles and singles] in four days. That was very demanding physically and he just couldn't do it at the end."
- On doubles action on Sunday: "We had a long wait to play doubles. I was a little nervous for us because it's hard when you have to wait to play the entire day and then you play very late at night. The guys managed to stay focused. We had a good warm up and we were able to take care of business against a very explosive, talented and dangerous team from Mississippi State. The key for us was to have a very quick and strong start and that's what we did. We were able to break them very early in the match to go up 3-1. From there, we relaxed and hit our shots. We were ready for the match and stayed focused, even at the end of the match when we held a big lead. We were able to stay focused until the match was over. Mississippi State tried to make a big push at the end, but we made sure closed the door with Clem serving. Hopefully we're able to get a good night's rest and be ready for tomorrow morning's match. We need to be sharp and make sure we stick to the plan."
