THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
South Alabama is 1-0 in Sun Belt play for the fifth consecutive season.

The Jaguars' shutout of Georgia State on Sunday was Justice Stanford's 20 of her career, moving her into a tie for first in school history with Sarah Hay, Kelsie Langford and Melissa Drish.

The Jags ended a five-game skid on Sunday, with all five losses coming to SEC and ACC opponents, including No. 3 Florida State.

USA is 52-6-4 in all games against Sun Belt teams since the start of the 2013 season.

Brenna McPartlan scored the Jags' lone goal against Georgia State, bringing her season total up to two, tying her for the team lead with Moa Öhman and Hannah Godfrey. Both of McPartlan's goals this season have come on set pieces and were game winners. She is tied for second in the conference in game-winning goals.

South Alabama is 3-0 when outshooting its opponent and 0-5 when being outshot.

Texas State's Kaylee Davis is second in the Sun Belt in points (1.25) and goals (0.62) per game. She had a brace in the Bobcats' Sun Belt opener vs. ULM.

The Bobcats rank second in the league as a team in goals (1.38) and assists (1.38) per match, and third in goals against average (1.11).

Coastal Carolina snapped a four-game scoreless streak in its Sun Belt opener with a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Little Rock.

MOODIE'S QUOTES ON THE WEEKEND
On getting a win in the Sun Belt opener
: "This time last year it was the same way – we had to battle and grind out a win at home against Appalachian State and it changed us. We had to do the same at Georgia State. It wasn't easy and they did a good job but we had to battle all the way to the end to get a result. The process is way more important than the result, but at the end of the day, in the conference, you have to adapt and find ways to win. The girls did a good job of that on a windy day in Georgia."

On the defense against Georgia State: "When I look at the times we've conceded goals, we've conceded early and late, and directly after scoring, so there's shifts with momentum and we've been talking about a total 90-minute performance. We've talked about limiting our mistakes and capitalizing on their mistakes. That's what we did – we were able to hold them to shots from distance. There were a lot of things that we took out of it. Our ability to not concede and not give up silly chances and hold them to shots from 30 yards allowed us to have the chance to win the game. Justice Stanford and the back four were phenomenal. We still need to work on our shape in the midfield, but as a unit collectively, we looked good."

On Texas State: "There's always last year in the back of their minds of how close they were to winning the conference. When you get to conference play, it's a clean slate. You wipe the record clean and don't look at the first seven games of the season. Now you're on to part two of the schedule. As far as both teams are concerned, we're unbeaten. I would argue that most teams that come here are OK leaving here with a tie. We have to be unsatisfied with anything less than a win. In order to do that, we have to play better than we did against Georgia State. We got the job done, but we have to play better, and if we do, I would argue we're one of the best teams in the conference."

On Coastal Carolina: "Coastal Carolina is on a mission right now. I respect (head coach) Paul (Hogan). He's a great guy and has done a great job with his team. You look at the result against Little Rock, they were losing then came back and won 2-1. You have a team right now that's dealing with so many bigger problems. They have a campus that they haven't been back to and they're training every day. They're not in school so they're focused on soccer. They'll be a tough team to beat. We always look at ourselves as the underdog. We're a team that's out to prove a point. We're confident but not cocky by any means. We respect everyone and I'd argue that Texas State and Coastal Carolina are two of the better teams in the conference based off last year. Getting both of them at home is the best possible outcome for us.
