South Alabama holds a 62-36 all-time lead over Southern Miss in a series that dates back to 1967 ... USA snapped a three-game series losing skid with its win over the Golden Eagles on Feb. 20 this season at Stanky Field ... South Alabama has lost three straight games, including an 8-3 loss in the 2017 NCAA Regional, at Pete Taylor Park dating back to 2015's 17-inning contest which the Golden Eagles won 7-6. The Jags' last win at Southern Miss came in a 5-1 decision in 2014. USA is 9-7 all-time against USM under head coach Mark Calvi.Â
Last Meeting
The Jaguars defeated the Golden Eagles, ranked No. 13 in the country at the time, 10-9 on Feb. 20 at Stanky Field. South Alabama rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI single by Andrew Bates, a bases-loaded walk by Travis Swaggerty and a pair of sacrifice flies by Brendan Donovan and Michael Sandle. USM third baseman Luke Reynolds homered twice in the game, including a ninth-inning solo shot that accounted for the game's final run. Jaguar right-hander JoJo Booker allowed one run on two hits in one-third of an inning to earn his first career win in the game, while right-hander Chase Lambert tossed one scoreless relief inning to record his second save of the season. The teams combined for 17 walks and three hit by pitches, with 13 pitchers used in the game between the two schools.

• South Alabama's season-best seven-game win streak was snapped in Sunday's series finale at Texas State.
• USA went 3-1 in four road games last week with a midweek win at New Orleans, and a pair of SBC victories at Texas State. The Jags batted .284 with seven doubles, five home runs, 35 RBIs and 38 runs scored in four games, led by catcher Carter Perkins who hit .625 with three doubles, three home runs, eight RBIs, seven runs scored, .684 on-base percentage and 1.375 slugging percentage.  Brendan Donovan batted .375 in four games with two doubles, three RBIs, six runs scored and .500 OBP. Right-handed reliever Zach Greene went 1-0 with one save in two appearances, and recorded 10 strikeouts without issuing a walk while allowing just one hit in 4 2/3 innings pitched.
• The Jaguars have played eight nationally-ranked opponents this season. USA is 3-8 against top-25 competition, with wins over No. 18 Oklahoma, No. 18 Coastal Carolina and No. 13 Southern Miss, and losses to No. 3 Texas Tech, No. 16 LSU, No. 18 Auburn and No. 23 Indiana.Â
• South Alabama ranks seventh nationally in walks (230), which ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference behind Coastal Carolina (242).
JAGS IN TOP 25 IN FIELDING PERCENTAGE
The Jaguars rank 25th nationally in fielding percentage (.978), which ranks second in the Sun Belt behind Louisiana (.980). South Alabama has committed at least one error in four of its last five games entering Tuesday's contest.
TWO-OUT RBIS
USA enters the game with 97 two-out RBIs, which accounts for 40 percent of its 242 RBIs this season. Wells Davis, Brendan Donovan and Hunter Stokes share the team lead with 13 two-out RBIs apiece.
DAVIS APPROACHING 100 HITS, RBIS
First baseman Wells Davis enters Tuesday's game with 96 career hits and 97 career RBIs. Davis has recorded eight hits and nine RBIs in his last five games, dating back to the series finale with Georgia Southern on April 15.
SWAGGERTY DURING HIT STREAK
Travis Swaggerty is batting .333 (17-for-51) with one double, five home runs, 16 RBIs, 16 runs scored, two stolen bases, 11 walks, .477 OBP and .647 slugging percentage in his current 13-game hitting streak. Swaggerty has also driven in runs in 10 of 13 games during that span, which includes tying his career high with four RBIs against Georgia Southern on April 13.
PERKINS ON HOT STREAK
Jaguar catcher Carter Perkins is batting .444 with three doubles, three home runs, 11 RBIs, 11 runs scored, .524 OBP and .778 slugging percentage in his last 10 games, dating back to the April 7 contest at Coastal Carolina. Perkins has hit safely in seven of 10 games and recorded five multiple-hit games in that span, including a career-high four hits in Wednesday's win at New Orleans, along with tying his career high in RBIs (4), as well as in game two of the Texas State series last weekend.Â
JAGS IN APRIL
South Alabama is batting .304 with 16 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs, 92 RBIs, 102 runs scored, two stolen bases, and a team OBP of .415 in 11 games in thus far in April. The Jags are 8-3 this month, which includes a 5-3 record in road games.
HOMERS AS OF LATE
South Alabama has homered in four of its last five games, dating back to the April 15 series finale with Georgia Southern. The Jags homered three times in last weekend's SBC series at Texas State, with Dylan Hardy, Carter Perkins and Travis Swaggerty each recording one home run. Perkins homered three times last week, while Swaggerty has hit five home runs in April.Â
HARDY AMONG SBC LEADERS IN HITS, STOLEN BASES
Left fielder Dylan Hardy enters the week ranked tied for third in the SBC in stolen bases (15), fourth in hits (53) and runs scored (41) and sixth in batting average (.338). Hardy has not stolen a base in 11 consecutive games, with his last steal coming in the March 31 series finale with Appalachian State.

South Alabama is averaging seven runs scored and nine hits per game through 38 contests, but is also averaging over eight strikeouts per game against six walks per contest. The Jags have struck out 10 or more times in 16 games this season.
