FUJIOKA PICKS UP ANOTHER SUN BELT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK AWARD

NEW ORLEANS – For the second time this season, University of South Alabama freshman Yu Fujioka was named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday morning.

Fujioka was also voted the league's athlete of the week on Feb. 14. She joins teammate Alexandria Stiteler as multiple award winners this year.

The Funabashi, Japan native went 2-0 in both singles and doubles in the Jaguars' 1-1 weekend. She ran her spring singles record to 20-0 with two victories at No. 3, defeating Middle Tennessee's Kim Kermet 6-2, 5-7, 6-4, and Xavier's Lauren Ghidotti 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles, Fujioka partnered with Stiteler on the No. 2 court for a 6-3 win vs. Middle Tennessee, and clinched the doubles point against Xavier, winning 7-6 (7-5).

Fujioka currently has the best overall dual win percentage and win percentage at No. 3 singles in school history (13-0).
