All-Time Series
South Alabama holds a 62-47 all-time lead over Louisiana in a series that began in 1975. The Cajuns won two of three games in Lafayette last season, with USA earning a 6-0 shutout in game two of the series. UL has won the last two series, while the last Jaguar series win came in 2015. South Alabama is 8-13 all-time against Louisiana under head coach Mark Calvi.

• South Alabama dropped out of the Baseball America and D1Baseball Top-25 rankings this week after dropping all five games last week, but is ranked No. 27 this week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

• South Alabama enters the weekend ranked second in the nation in walks (94). 

• The Jags have played five nationally-ranked opponents this season. The Jaguars are 2-6 against top-25 competition this year, with wins over No. 18 Oklahoma and No. 13 Southern Miss, and losses to No. 3 Texas Tech, No. 18 Auburn and No. 23 Indiana.

• The Jaguars lead the Sun Belt Conference in walks (94), are tied with ULM for the league lead in sacrifice flies (7), rank fourth in on-base percentage (.387), runs scored (89), hits (113), RBI (75) and home runs (9), tied for fourth in doubles (25), and seventh in batting average (.253); however, USA leads the SBC with 133 strikeouts offensively.

• The South Alabama pitching staff ranks tied for third in the SBC in saves (3), and fourth in strikeouts (103). 


SWAGGERTY LEADS NATION IN WALKS
Center fielder Travis Swaggerty enters the weekend as the nation's leader in walks (21) and walks per game (1.62), and seventh in the nation in on-base percentage (.609). 

DAVIS, DONOVAN AMONG NATION'S LEADERS IN WALKS
Shortstop Brendan Donovan ranks sixth nationally in walks (16), and second in the Sun Belt Conference. First baseman Wells Davis ranks 22nd in the country in walks (14), which ranks fifth in the SBC.

HARDY AMONG SBC LEADERS IN HITS
Outfielder Dylan Hardy ranks third in the Sun Belt in hits (19) entering the weekend. Hardy has reached base safely in every game this season, carrying a 13-game on-base streak into the series opener, and has hit safely in 11 of 13 contests. Hardy also ranks third in the league in at-bats (58), and fifth in total plate appearances (66). 

SWAGGERTY LEADS SBC
Center fielder Travis Swaggerty leads the Sun Belt Conference in walks (21) and on-base percentage (.609), ranks third in the league in batting average (.390), fourth in slugging percentage (.707), tied for fifth in home runs (3), and tied for sixth in total bases (29). 

SANDLE LEADS SBC IN SACRIFICE FLIES
Freshman outfielder Michael Sandle enters the weeked tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead in sacrifice flies (3), which ranks seventh nationally.

LAMBERT TIED FOR LEAGUE LEAD IN SAVES
Right-hander Chase Lambert is tied for second in the SBC in saves (2) entering the weekend.

RUSSO LEADS LEAGUE IN ABs
Third baseman Paul Russo enters the series opener tied for the SBC lead in at-bats (59), 

DAVIS AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS IN RBIs, WALKS
First baseman Wells Davis ranks fifth in the Sun Belt Conference in walks (14), and tied for fifth in RBIs (14).

JAGS AT NIGHT/DAY
South Alabama enters the weekend 3-4 in day games, and 4-2 in night games this season. 

OFFENSIVE RUNS / HITS PER GAME
South Alabama is averaging eight hits and six runs scored per game through 13 contests, and is averaging over 10 strikeouts per contest against seven walks per game. The Jags have struck out 10 or more times in five of their last six games entering the weekend, and have 10 or more strikeouts offensively in eight games this season.
