KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of South Alabama men's basketball junior
Rodrick Sikes was voted to the National Association of Basketball Coaches all-District 24 Team, it was announced Tuesday.
Sikes adds to his trophy haul this year after earning Second Team all-Sun Belt Conference honors earlier this month.
A native of Ocean Springs, Miss., Sikes averaged 18.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in his first season in a Jaguar uniform. His scoring average, which is currently fourth-best in the league, is the highest by a USA player since 2012-13, and the second-highest since 2007-08.
Sikes converted 88 times from 3-point land, which is the fifth-highest total in school history, and his 2.8 per-game average is fourth in the SBC. He recorded 597 points to tie for sixth in South Alabama's single-season record books.
The league's second-leading scorer in conference games at 20.2 ppg, Sikes set a new school record with five 30-point games on the season, including a career-best 38 on Jan. 27 at ULM. His point and 3-point totals (7) that game are tied for eighth in school history. Three of his five 30-point outings came against Sun Belt competition.
