South Alabama holds a 25-15 all-time lead over LSU in a series that dates back to 1971. The Jaguars defeated the Tigers 7-6 last season in Baton Rouge, rallying for three runs in the top of the ninth inning including the eventual game-winning RBI single by Will Luft. South Alabama is 1-1 against LSU under head coach Mark Calvi.

Scouting the Tigers
LSU enters Wednesday's contest ranked in all four major national polls. The Tigers are No. 16 this week by
Baseball America and
Collegiate Baseball, No. 19 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, and No. 20 according to
D1Baseball. LSU won three of five games last week, with a series win over Hawaii last weekend, a midweek win over Southern and midweek loss at Louisiana.
The Tigers enter the week batting .302 as a team with 41 doubles, five triples, 14 home runs, 112 RBIs, 118 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in 17 games. The LSU pitching staff carries a 4.30 team ERA into Tuesday's contest, with 162 strikeouts against 64 walks in 152 2/3 innings pitched. LSU right-hander AJ Labas is scheduled to make his first start of the season, and has recorded three strikeouts against one walk in five innings pitched.

Center fielder Travis Swaggerty enters the week as the nation's leader in walks (23) and walks per game (1.44), and 18th in the nation in on-base percentage (.551).
YARBOROUGH TO MAKE SECOND CAREER START
Left-hander Caleb Yarborough is scheduled to make his second career start in Wednesday's contest. It will mark his second start against a nationally-ranked opponent after making his first career start on Feb. 18 against No. 23 Indiana, in which he allowed three unearned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and a pair of walks in four innings pitched. The southpaw earned his first career win on Feb. 24 against Hartford after tossing 3 1/3 scoreless relief innings, allowing two hits with one strikeout against two walks.

Shortstop Brendan Donovan ranks seventh nationally in walks (18), and 18th in the country in walks per game (1.13).
HARDY AMONG SBC LEADERS IN HITS
Outfielder Dylan Hardy ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in hits (22) entering the week. Hardy has reached base safely in every game this season, carrying a 16-game on-base streak into Tuesday's contest, and has hit safely in 13 of 16 games. Hardy also ranks third in the league in at-bats (69), fourth in total plate appearances (80) and tied for fifth in runs scored (18).
