SURPRISE, Ariz. – University of South Alabama men's tennis juniors Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol fell in their first match at the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships Wednesday.

DOUBLES
- Cloes and Marzol were defeated by Brian Berdusco and Johannes Ingildsen of Florida 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 10-6 in the opening round of the event.
NOTES
- The Jaguars' top doubles tandem will open up against Toby Boyer and Micah Klousia of Nebraska in the consolation bracket.
- It was the first time in three fall tournament appearances the two failed to advance past the opening round in the main draw.
- It was also the second straight loss for Cloes and Marzol in a tiebreaker.
- Two of the pair's three losses thus far this season have been to teams from Florida.
THEY SAID IT

On Cloes' and Marzol's first-round match: "This one hurts. It was a great match, but once you get to the third-set tiebreaker, it's a coin flip. Both teams were returning really well in the breaker, so much so that neither team won many points when serving. This match was all about momentum; we were up by two breaks in the first set but the Gators got hot and came back. They had the lead in the second set but we stormed back to win it 6-3. We were looking really good in the last breaker until we froze a little at 5-4 up serving, we lost two points on serve which really hurt. In a 10-point tiebreaker, being up 7-4 or down 6-5 makes a huge difference. UF won two points on our serve and took off after that. We need to learn from this and get ready for a good Nebraska team tomorrow."
