NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama sophomore Siti Shaari was voted the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Athlete of the Week, as announced Thursday by the league office. It is the Subangjaya, Malaysia native's first Athlete of the Week award this season and the third of her career.
Shaari averaged 73.33 strokes per round, recorded a career-low 18-hole score and a season-low three-round total, and earned a second-place finish over two tournaments in the reporting period.
She carded a career-low 68 and her lowest three-round score of the season, a 217 (+4), to lead the Jaguars to their first team win of the year and earn second-place individually at the UT Arlington Invitational Oct. 22-23. The sophomore ranked first overall in even-pars (37) and second in par-4 scoring (4.12, +4).
She finished 12th at the Little Rock Golf Classic Oct. 28-30 with a 7-over-par 223 and tied for second in par-4 scoring (E).
The Jaguars open spring play Feb. 16-17 at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Collegiate Championship in Lake Oconee, Ga.
