THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
South Alabama's game at Arkansas State will be the team's third contest on Thursday this season. The Jags are 0-2 with losses to LSU and Alabama.
Friday's game vs. Troy was rained out and postponed to a later date. It was the second postponement of the season (App State).
Sunday saw the Jaguars score multiple goals for the second time this season and first time since Aug. 24 vs. Chattanooga.
Justice Stanford became the school's all-time leader in shutouts with 21 with a two-save performance Sunday vs. Georgia Southern, breaking a four-way tie at the top spot. She also moved up to a tie for ninth in league history.
Stanford is in a tie for second in the Sun Belt in shutouts (3).
USA is 53-8-4 in all games against Sun Belt teams since the start of the 2013 season.
South Alabama has outshot its last three opponents 74-34 overall and 35-8 on goal. USA's 30 shots Sunday vs. Georgia Southern is a new season high.
Morgan Cross scored her first career goal Sunday against Georgia Southern.
Briana Morris' goal Sunday was her second of the season, moving her into a four-way tie for the team lead.
On Sunday,
Camryn Lyster earned her first career start, played all 90 minutes and was credited with her first assist. She saw 46 minutes of action combined in her first three career games.
Arkansas State dealt South Alabama its only Sun Belt loss in 2017, a 1-0 decision in Mobile in a game that did not start until 9:15 p.m. due to rain.
The Red Wolves are second in the league in goals against average (0.95) and tied for second in shutouts (4).

South Alabama's nine-match win streak over Little Rock is the school's second-longest active streak against an opponent, eclipsed only by the 15-match run vs. ULM. The Jaguars have won eight in a row over Georgia State.
First-year Little Rock head coach
Mark Foster spent the 2017 season at South Alabama.
MOODIE'S QUOTES ON THE WEEKEND
On going back out on the road after a win: "I feel much better after scoring two goals. I still think that our conviction in front of goal could improve. In our last three games we have 74 shots, 35 on goal, over 20 corners, two goals, two losses and one win. I think we have the ability to really punish a team and the game Sunday could have been 4-, 5-, 6-0 for us. We spent a lot of time in front of goal last week and I think it paid off. We'll do the same heading into this weekend."
On getting the scorers going: "It's tough when you're a goal-scorer and it's dried up. You're trying to get that going and you don't care what it looks like. It would be good to see a few more get on the scoresheet. Ana Helmert had the ball in the back of the night two times but was offside. The way we opened them up was fantastic. There will be a lot of emphasis this week on going to goal and trying to build the confidence of those girls. We definitely need to find that one individual who's going to be our go-to person. We might not have that person but either way, we all need to be chipping in and scoring goals. It was good to see Morgan (Cross) get on the scoresheet and Briana Morris hadn't scored in a while. We've got players that are more than capable."
On Arkansas State: "That's a team that's coming off of two losses so they'll be ready to get things going. We've played against some of the best teams in the country and we've opened them up and created chances. We've played against defenses that have allowed fewer goals and shots than Arkansas State, no disrespect to them. So it's not a question as to whether or not we will open them up, it's a question of whether or not we'll punish them when we do. For us, set pieces and everything will be important because they're a good team that's well-coached. We'll get chances, it's just whether or not we'll punish them."
On facing former assistant Mark Foster: "You can always over-analyze that. I've coached against Mark for years. I think at the end of the day, it's all down to the players. There's no hate or anything, but it's Little Rock against us. They haven't lost as many games so they find themselves as conference contenders, but so do we. It doesn't matter who's on the other sideline or who we're up against. It'll be good to see him and he's done a great job. He's got a lot of seniors there and will go through what we did with the turnover rate, but he'll enjoy the game as much as we will."
