BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – First-place finishes by Jordan Friz and Rafael Scott highlighted a successful meet for the University of South Alabama's track & field team as they competed at the Samford Invitational on Friday.
Friz won the women's pole vault with a score of 3.80m, while Scott took the title in the men's 60m dash with a time of 6.78. Both Friz (4.06m) and Scott (6.59) hold the all-time records in their respective events.
Overall, South Alabama tallied 16 podium results and 29 finishes within the top-five. Five Jaguars shook up the all-time record books in field events.

NOTES
-Michaela Preachuk's mark of 17.89/58-08.50 in the women's weight throw moved her to second in the record book, besting her score (17.49/57-4.75) from the Commodore Invitational last weekend.
-Esherika Hawkins entered the women's record book at seventh all-time with a score of 16.26m/53-04.25 in the weight throw.
-Berron Tyson etched his spot in the men's record book with the sixth-best score in history in the long jump with a mark of 6.90.m/22-07.75.
-Michella Obijiaku finished fourth in the women's shot put with a score of 13.71m/44-11.75, which moved her to sixth all-time.
-Niel Giliomee recorded his best score in the men's pole vault with a mark of 5.20m/17-00.75 and advanced to third in the record book.
