T. BOYD, 18 JAGUARS RECORD TOP-FIVE FINISHES AT COMMODORE INVITATIONAL

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Eighteen Jaguars recorded top-five finishes as the University of South Alabama men's and women's track and field teams opened the indoor season at the Commodore Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Nashville, Tenn.

Four Jags took home individual titles including Thomas Boyd in the men's shot put, posting a 16.88m mark and Niel Giliomee in the men's pole vault with a score of 4.95m. Olivia Swan notched a 1.68m in the women's high jump and Michaela Preachuk scored a 17.49m in the women's weight throw.

NOTES
-Boyd's score of 16.88m/55-4.75 in the men's shot put set a new school record, besting the previous mark of 16.84/55-24.
-Preachuk's mark of 17.49m/57-4.75 in the women's weight throw moved her to third in the women's record book.
-Swan etched her spot in the women's record book with the fourth-best score in history in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.68/5-6.
-Cierra Hendrick made her debut in the women's record book with times of 7.77 in the 60m and 24.94 in the 200m.
-Angeline Smit entered the women's record book at No. 5 in the shot put with a score of 14.09m/46-2.75.
-Esherika Hawkins moved up to seventh in the women's record book in the shot put with a score of 13.20m/43-3.75
