All-Time Series
South Alabama holds a 43-37 all-time lead over Troy in a series that dates back to 1965 USA won the series opener 8-3, but theTrojans took the final two games - a 4-2 win in game two and 8-0 shutout in the series finale - to clinch the series. In the last meeting between the schools at Stanky Field, which was the only game played in the series in 2015, Troy defeated USA 2-1 in 10 innings. The Jaguars defeated the Trojans 6-4 in the Cox Diamond Invitational in Pensacola, Fla., earlier this season in a non-conference contest.

Last Time Out
South Alabama swept a three-game series against Appalachian State in Boone, N.C., last weekend to extend its winning streak to five games. The Jaguars hit eight home runs and scored 43 runs in the three-game series.

On Troy
The Trojans fell to No. 8 Mississippi State 10-8 Tuesday in Starkville, Miss. The Bulldogs broke an 8-8 tie with a pair of decisive runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, following Troy's five-run third inning and three-run fourth. The Trojans have won four straight Sun Belt Conference games entering the weekend series, and sit in fourth place in the SBC East Division. Troy right-hander Andrew Crane, scheduled to start the series opener on Thursday, leads the SBC in ERA (0.98), ranks second in opposing batting average (.178) and tied for fourth in wins (6). Brandon Lockridge enters the weekend as the SBC leader in hits with 79, and is second in the league in batting average (.351). 

JAGS IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
South Alabama enters the weekend as the nation's leader in walks (320), ranks sixth in on-base percentage (.417), runs scored (432) and sacrifice flies (31), seventh in runs per game (8.3), 21st in batting average (.306) and hits (548), and 22nd in home runs (61) and slugging percentage (.476).

LABOUNTY, SWAGGERTY IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
Shortstop Drew LaBounty enters the series ranked second nationally in walks per game (1.02) and 10th in walks (45). Center fielder Travis Swaggerty enters the weekend ranked ninth nationally in on-base percentage (.492). 

JAG BATS LAST WEEK
South Alabama hit .415 (54-for-130) with 11 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 41 RBI and 43 runs scored in its three-game sweep of Appalachian State last weekend. The Jags recorded 25 hits in their 24-5 win in game two, which fell just two hits shy of tying the school record of 27 (vs. Florida A&M, 1996).

JAGS AT STANKY FIELD
USA is 16-5 in 21 games at Stanky Field this season, and has won six of its last seven Sun Belt home games dating back to a 4-3 win over No. 26 Coastal Carolina on April 15. The Jags are hitting .310 with 40 doubles, five triples, 14 home runs, 165 RBI, 191 runs scored and 32 stolen bases along with a .453 on-base percentage in 21 home contests. The Jaguar pitching staff has recorded 175 strikeouts against 62 walks in 189 innings pitched at Stanky Field this year.

TWO OR FEWER TO WIN
USA is 11-1 when allowing two or fewer runs, but is 23-17 when surrendering three or more. The Jags have allowed three or more runs in 14 of their last 15 contests, but are 12-3 during that span.

LEADING AFTER SEVEN
USA is 27-1 when leading after seven innings this season, but is 2-13 when trailing and 4-4 when tied after seven frames. 

TWO-OUT RBI
Of USA's 391 team RBI, 153 have come with two outs which accounts for 39 percent of the Jaguars' team RBI total. Jared Barnes leads the team with 23 two-out RBI this season, followed by Travis Swaggerty with 20.

JAG OFFENSE LEADS THE SUN BELT CONFERENCE 
South Alabama enters the series as the Sun Belt Conference leader in batting average (.306), slugging percentage (.476), on-base percentage (.417), runs scored (432), hits (548), RBI (391), total bases (852), walks (320) and sacrifice flies (31). The Jaguars rank second in the league in home runs (61) and triples (12).

JAGS WITH BASES LOADED
South Alabama is hitting .477 (41-for-86) with the bases loaded this season, led by Travis Swaggerty who has seven hits and is hitting .636 with the bags full of Jags. USA has hit seven grand slams this season, led by Eddie Paparella with two, following Wells Davis' grand slam at Appalachian State last weekend. 

RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION
The Jags are batting .322 (195-for-606) with runners in scoring position. Travis Swaggerty leads the team with 24 hits with RISP. The Jags hit .409 (18-for-44) in their three-game sweep at Appalachian State last weekend, led by Jared Barnes and Drew LaBounty with four apiece.

TEN OR MORE RUNS
USA is 13-1 when scoring 10 or more runs this season and 27-7 when scoring six or more, but is 7-11 when scoring five or less. 

EARLY/LATE-INNING RUN PRODUCTION
South Alabama has outscored the opposition 48-19 in the first inning and 31-8 in the ninth inning this season. USA has allowed more runs (51) in the third inning than any other inning this season.

ON-BASE, HITTING STREAKS
Shortstop Drew LaBounty carries a career-high 13-game hitting streak and 19-game on-base streak into the series. Will Luft has hit safely in seven straight games, followed by Brendan Donovan and Dylan Hardy at five games apiece.

BARNES NATIONAL, CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Catcher Jared Barnes was named the National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Tuesday, after earning National Player of the Week honors from Collegiate Baseball and SBC Player of the Week on Monday. Barnes batted .556 (10-for-18) with four doubles, three home runs, 13 RBI and four runs scored while posting a 1.278 slugging percentage and .524 on-base percentage in four games last week. He hit safely in all four contests, tallying multiple hits in each game, and drove in at least one run in each game including three multi-RBI performances. 

SWAGGERTY LEADING THE SUN BELT
Outfielder Travis Swaggerty enters the week as the Sun Belt Conference leader in batting average (.368) and on-base percentage (.492), ranks third in RBI (49) and walks (41), fifth in stolen bases (18), tied for third in runs scored (48), tied for sixth in hits (68) and tied for eighth in home runs (8).

BARNES TOPS IN THE LEAGUE
Jared Barnes enters the weekend as the SBC leader in slugging percentage (.612), and ranks second in RBI (50). In SBC contests, Barnes leads the league in batting average (.376), slugging percentage (.785), on-base percentage (.508), home runs (10), RBI (32) and total bases (73).

ARGUELLES NAMED SBC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Freshman left-hander Andy Arguelles was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Arguelles tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed just four hits while striking out a career-high eight batters without issuing a walk in the Jaguars' 7-6 win at No. 10 LSU last Tuesday in Baton Rouge, La. The left-hander retired 11 of the final 12 Tiger batters he faced in the game, and struck out six over that span.

PEACOCK'S LAST 11 APPEARANCES
After allowing a season-high three runs at Southeastern Louisiana on April 4, right-hander Matt Peacock has gone 3-1 with six saves in 11 appearances, and has allowed just four earned runs on 17 hits in 27 1/3 innings pitched with a 1.33 ERA and 30 strikeouts against seven walks in that span. Peacock has not allowed a run in 13 of 21 appearances this season, but has allowed runs in his last two outings.

BELL AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS
Right-hander Randy Bell enters Friday's start as the Sun Belt Conference leader in strikeouts looking (34). Bell ranks third in the league in innings pitched (86.1), and fifth in strikeouts (84).

CARR'S LAST THREE STARTS
Right-hander Tyler Carr has won his last three starts, including last Saturday at Appalachian State in which he struck out a career-high 11 batters in 6 2/3 innings pitched.

JAGS ENTER NATIONAL RANKINGS
South Alabama is ranked 25th in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll, which was released on Monday. It marked the first time this season the Jaguars have been ranked in the top 25.

DAVIS AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS
First baseman Wells Davis ranks fourth in RBI (47) in the Sun Belt Conference, and is tied for fifth in home runs (10) entering the weekend. In just SBC games, Davis ranks second in the league in slugging percentage (.659) and runs scored (29), tied for second in home runs (8) and sacrifice flies (4), and fourth in batting average (.352).
