MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team will compete in three matches this week, hosting Jacksonville State at 10:00 a.m. and Jackson State at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in a doubleheader at the Mobile Tennis Courts and facing North Florida on the road on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
The Jaguars look to continue their six-game winning streak. Last week at home South Alabama defeated Auburn 5-2 and Sun Belt Conference foe Georgia State 6-1.
The Jags won all but two singles matches last weekend, going 10-2. Loic Cloes, Olivier Gingras, Clement Marzol and Juan Cruz Soria all won their two matches. Gingras clinched the win against the Tigers on court No. 3, and Soria clinched the victory against the Panthers on court No. 3.
Jacksonville State has started their spring season 6-1, and went 2-1 last weekend in the Alabama State Invitational. Jackson State has dropped all eight matches on the season. South Alabama is undefeated against the two schools with four wins against Jacksonville State and three versus Jackson State.
"Thursday's matches will be a good physical test," said South Alabama head coach Nick Brochu. "It is important to be in good shape when you play two matches back-to-back. We had an excellent weekend, and we want to keep the momentum going before we go back on the road."
North Florida has split their eight matches this season and won two of their three matches on the road last weekend, defeating Miami 4-2 and LSU 5-2. The Ospreys have won seven of ten meetings and six-straight against the Jags.
"North Florida is a big match for us," said Brochu. "They have beaten us the last few years. We had close battles but got the last points. With the momentum we have this season, our players are confident that we can shift the balance in our favor this year."
