SOUTH ALABAMA’S GRAF RECEIVES SBC WEEKLY TRACK AWARD

NEW ORLEANS – After recording one personal-best time and another that was his fastest of the season, University of South Alabama senior Chistoph Graf was selected the Sun Belt Conference men's track student-athlete of the week.  The announcement was made by the league office on Thursday.

The senior from Chur, Grisons, Switzerland finished in the top six in a pair of races last weekend at the War Eagle Invitational to earn the honor for the first time this season.

On Friday, Graf placed fourth in the invitational 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:45.12 that is the fastest in the league this spring.  Not only was the mark the best of his career, it fell less than a second shy of entering the top five on the Jaguars' all-time performance list.  The time also ranks 41st in the NCAA East Region.

The next day, Graf returned to finish sixth in the 800 meters after crossing the line in a season-best 1:53.17.

The Jags will conclude the regular season on Saturday at Mississippi State's MSU Invitational.
