MEN’S BASKETBALL SIGNS TRANSFER LANCE CRAWFORD

MOBILE, Ala.Lance Crawford, formerly of UMass Lowell, will transfer to the University of South Alabama and join the men's basketball program for the 2015-16 season.

A point guard from Davie, Fla., Crawford will have to sit out the upcoming campaign but has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

"We are thrilled to have Lance join our program as he had a successful freshman season at UMass Lowell," USA head coach Matthew Graves said. "We are excited we will be able to continue to develop him as he sits out next season and then has three years to play. Lance is a true point guard who will bring a great deal of toughness to our team."

As a freshman at UMass Lowell, Crawford was second on the team in scoring (9.7 ppg)—19th in the America East Conference—and assists (66) while shooting 40.5 percent from the floor and 34.2 percent from 3-point land. He started the final 13 games of the season, and had 11 double-digit scoring performances, including a 35-point night against Maine.

Crawford graduated from the Sagemont School in Weston, Fla. after prepping three years at Pine Crest School. He led Sagemont to a state title and was a two-time All-Broward County selection.
