MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama women's basketball head coach Terry Fowler announced Wednesday that Rehema Franklin (New Orleans, La.) has signed a National-Letter-of-Intent to play for the Jaguars during the 2015-16 season.
"Rehema [Franklin] is a super-quick athletic point guard," Fowler said. "She gives us the ability to pick up full-court and do some things defensively to try to speed our opponents up. On the offensive end of the floor, she's really shoots the three well and is a dynamic ball-handler. She'll be able to create some fast-break opportunities for us as well."
Franklin becomes the fifth signee in this year's class and the third this spring. She joins James Madison University transfer Candice Williams Alpharetta, Ga. – James Madison/St. Francis High School) and D'Andra Pringle (Lawrenceville, Ga. – Mountain View High School) in the spring class and fall signees Christen Carter (Jacksonville, Fla. – The Bolles School) and India Hall (Antioch, Tenn. – Brentwood Academy) in this year's recruiting class. Franklin averaged 18.1 points per game, five steals and four rebounds during the 2014-15 season. She was a Louisiana Sports Writers Association second-team all-state selection, selected as the District 10-4A Most Valuable Player and a NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune All-Metro selection that same season.
Franklin chose South Alabama after being recruited by McNeese State and fellow Sun Belt Conference member Appalachian State.
