LEAGUE TITLE ON THE LINE THIS WEEKEND FOR NO. 22 JAG SOFTBALL

Game Notes

MOBILE, Ala.
– No. 22 University of South Alabama softball travels to Troy this weekend to round out the 2015 regular season with a three-game Sun Belt Conference series versus the Trojans on Saturday and Sunday, with championship implications on the line.

USA (33-9, 14-3 SBC) trails league-leader No. 10 Louisiana-Lafayette (34-8, 17-3 SBC) in win-loss percentage points, the determining factor for the league's regular season title, 0.850 to 0.824. Should South Alabama exit the weekend with a better record in its series than the Ragin' Cajuns, who travel to in-state rival Louisiana-Monroe, the Jaguars would claim their first-ever regular season title.

South Alabama owns a 13-game conference win streak heading into the weekend after three-game sweeps of Appalachian State, Georgia State, Texas-Arlington and Georgia Southern. USA was most recently scheduled to host Texas State on April 18-19, but the series was canceled due to weather conditions.

Troy (31-20; 13-7 SBC) is currently third in SBC standings and has won five straight league games. The Trojans have recorded three games sweeps of Appalachian State, Louisiana-Monroe and Georgia Southern, in addition to taking both games in a weather-shortened series against Texas-Arlington last weekend.

The Trojans took one of three from No. 7 Louisiana-Lafayette and dropped two of three to Texas State in San Marcos, site of the 2015 SBC Tournament.

USA is 14-9 all-time versus the Trojans and has won seven of its last eight meetings versus the Trojans, dating back to the 2012 season.
