MEN’S TENNIS LOOKS FOR REBOUND AT HOME AGAINST MEMPHIS MONDAY

MOBILE, Ala. – Following an unsuccessful weekend in Texas, the University of South Alabama men's tennis team is set to host No. 73 Memphis on Monday at noon at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.

The Jaguars, ranked No. 71 in the nation, are currently 8-6 in their spring campaign and 4-1 in home matches.

"Memphis is a good tennis program with great results in the past three years," said USA head coach Nick Brochu.  "They are an explosive and competitive team."

The Jags went 0-2 against a pair of ranked teams last weekend, falling 4-1 to No. 69 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and 6-1 to 72nd-ranked Texas-San Antonio.

Doubles has been key in South Alabama's success this season. As a team, USA posts a 25-12 record overall and have only dropped two matches at the No. 1 spot.

"We will need to come up big in doubles and beat Memphis where they are comfortable," said Brochu. "We have a lot of confidence in our No. 1 team. We will try a new team at No. 2."

Monday will mark the ninth meeting between the Jaguars and the Tigers. UM leads the all-time series 5-3, including a 4-0 win in their last meeting with USA in April 2013.

Memphis owns an 8-6 record this season with a 1-3 mark on the road. The Tigers boast two individual rankings in No. 54 Andrew Watson and No. 56 Connor Glennon. Watson is 7-5 at Nos. 2 and 3, while Glennon is 8-2 at the No. 1 spot.

"We had a good week of practice," said Brochu. "The guys are looking forward to the challenge at home in front of our fans. We need to dig deep at every position and come up with a big win for our program."
