JAGUAR TRACK & FIELD SIGNS BEANS

MOBILE, Alabama – University of South Alabama head track and field coach Paul Brueske announced Wednesday the signing of Montgomery, Ala., native Kaitlyn Beans to the women’s team for the 2013-14 season.

A jumps specialist, Beans joins the Jaguars from Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School, where she posted personal records of 5’-6” in the high jump and 18’-00” in the long jump.

At last month’s Alabama High School Athletic Association 4A State Championships, Beans recorded second-place finishes in both the long jump and the 200-meter dash, while placing fourth in the high jump in the final meet of her high school career.  As a junior, she recorded third-place finishes in the high jump and 200-meter dash at the state meet.

The addition of Beans brings the total number of incoming freshmen in the fall to 15.  She is the 12th individual to join the women’s squad, which finished third at this year’s Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships.

“We’re very excited about this class that we have coming in next season, and Kaitlyn Beans is a valuable addition to that class,” said Brueske.  “I think this is the best group we’ve ever put together.  We’ve signed a number of very talented individuals who work hard in the classroom as well, and they all have the potential to be big contributors for our program.”
