MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama track and field teams will send a limited roster of five student-athletes to compete in the Air Force Invitational Thursday and Friday at Cadet Field House in Colorado Springs, Colo.
For the men’s team, senior Garrett Schumacher, junior Connor Smith, and sophomore Mikel Magnusson will participate in the heptathlon event. Junior Leah Hixon and sophomore Jasmine Ferguson will represent the Lady Jags as they take part in the pentathlon.
The meet will commence at 2 p.m. CST Thursday, beginning with the women’s 60-meter hurdles. That event kicks off the women’s heptathlon and will be followed by the high jump, shot put, long jump, and 800-meter run.
On the men’s side, the heptathlon will also begin Thursday, when the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put, and high jump will be held. The event concludes Friday morning with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000-meter run.
“It’s going to be a big competition,” said head track and field coach Paul Brueske. “It should be a great event, and I think it’s going to be a valuable experience for those combined-event student-athletes.”
Results from the Air Force Invitational will be posted on the Jaguar athletics website following the meet.
