BOCA RATON, Fla. – University of South Alabama softball student-athletes Brittany Fowler, Hannah Campbell and Blair Johnson were named to the all-Sun Belt Conference second team at their respective positions the league announced Tuesday.

For Fowler, a junior from Jacksonville, Fla., the honor marks her third all-conference nod in as many years. As a freshman, Fowler was named second team all-SBC at second base before picking up the honor in the outfield in 2011. This season, she was recognized for her work at shortstop. She leads the club with a .338 batting average and 34 RBI. Fowler has recorded 13 multiple-hit games and eight multiple-RBI games on the year.

Sophomore H. Campbell also earned a spot on the all-Sun Belt team as a pitcher for the second consecutive year. The Satsuma, Ala. native was the conference’s freshman of the year last season and preseason all-SBC player of the year in 2012. H. Campbell has tallied a team-leading 19-10 record and has tossed 24 complete games. She has thrown seven shutouts and a career-high 177 strikeouts in 188.2 innings of work.

As a true freshman, Johnson, an outfielder from Kimberly, Ala., is batting .319 and paces the squad with 51 hits including 12 doubles and a triple. Johnson ranks third in total bases (65) and fifth on the team in on-base percentage (.360), runs scored (25) and RBI (23).

Eight student-athletes were also recognized for their work in the classroom. Junior Meghan Collins and sophomores H. Campbell, Julie Moss and Haley Richards earned spots on the Commissioner’s List which requires a GPA of 3.50-4.00 while seniors Haley Hopkins and Christin Crocker and juniors Britany Campbell and Fowler were named to the 2012 SBC Academic Honor Roll which requires a grade point average of 3.00-3.49.
