AUBURN, Ala. – The University of South Alabama’s Joey Torres matched the school-record hammer throw mark he set at the last year’s Sun Belt Conference Championships, where he threw 59.50m (195-02) for the event crown, to finish second collegiately and third overall on Friday to open the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn.

Torres also took third collegiately – fourth overall – in the discus throw on a mark of 51.61m (169-04).

Steven Nobles finished 10th collegiately and 11th overall in the hammer (53.01m/173-11), ahead of Adam Patterson, who took 12th collegiately (51.56m/169-02).

Bobbie Williamson finished fourth collegiately and fifth overall in the women’s discus after throwing 45.13m (148-01), a meter-and-a-half short of the school record she set at last weekend’s USA Invitational. Williamson also finished eighth in the hammer throw (53.84m/177-00), one place behind Latifah Johnson, who threw 54.92m (180-02) for seventh.

Lacy Barger was sixth in the women’s javelin on a 38.78m (127-03) throw.
