MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team will host Alabama at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stanky Field.

South Alabama (11-17) enters the game 2-3 in its last five games after splitting a pair of midweek games at Wichita State and dropping two of three games against Middle Tennessee last weekend. The Jaguars enter the game with a .264 team batting average, and are led by Nick Zaharion who leads the squad in batting average (.350), hits (35), RBI (28), slugging percentage (.540) and on-base percentage (.440).
Whitt Dorsey enters the game with a five-game hitting streak, and has hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games. Jordan Patterson has reached base safely in 24 of his last 25 games.
Right-hander Dillon Buhrkuhl (1-3) will make his sixth start of the season Tuesday, and will go against Alabama right-hander Spencer Turnnbull (0-2). Buhrkuhl earned his first win of the season in last week’s 7-3 win at Wichita State, where he allowed one earned run on four hits and struck out five in six innings.
Turnbull has allowed 14 runs on 18 hits, and struck out 18 and issued 11 walks in 18 1/3 innings this season. Opponents are hitting .315 this season. Turnball got the start against the Jags in the previous matchup this season, and tossed five shutout innings while striking four and issuing four walks without factoring in the decision.
Alabama holds a 55-48 all-time series lead after defeating South Alabama 4-3 earlier this season in Tuscaloosa. USA has lost its last two meetings with Alabama, and last defeated the Crimson in the first of two meetings last season. The Jags are 31-18 all-time against Alabama in Mobile, and have won three of the last four meetings at Stanky Field.
Alabama (9-19) enters the game on a five-game losing skid after getting swept at Tennessee last weekend. The Crimson Tide has lost 10 of its last 11 games. UA is 1-11 on the road this year, and have dropped nine straight contests on the road.
The Crimson Tide is hitting .249 as a team, and carries a 5.03 team ERA into Tuesday's matchup with USA. Ben Moore leads Alabama in batting average (.354) and slugging percentage (.465), while Jared Reaves leads the Tide in hits (39) and total bases (52). Brett Booth leads the team with 19 RBI.
