MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama head soccer coach Mike Varga announced the addition of Alyssa Mayer to the 2012 roster Tuesday morning.
Mayer, a Maylene, Ala. native, lettered four years in soccer and one year in cross country at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala. The midfielder was named the Warriors’ team captain the past two years, and led Thompson to a 2011 Southern Shootout title.
Mayer was a 2011 state all-star and all-metro honoree. In 2010, she was an all-metro honorable mention.
Mayer played club soccer for Birmingham United for four years, Briarwood for two years and the Birmingham Legends for one year. In 2011, she helped the Birmingham Legends win a DI state championship.
