Schütz recorded his second straight top-20 result to open the 2018-19 season after leading the Jaguars with a 2-over-par 218 54-hole total at the Shoal Creek Invitational hosted by Alabama-Birmingham on Monday and Tuesday.  The junior carded a 2-under-par 70 in the second of three rounds at the event — where his efforts helped South to another top-10 performance as a team — that included four birdies on his front nine as part of a bogey-free 32 to make the turn 4-under par.  In addition to leading the Jags with nine birdies in the tournament, he tied for the lead among the 87 individuals in the field with a 2-under total on par-three holes.
