Randy Allen recorded career highs with six total tackles, a pair of sacks and two forced fumbles — tying a school game record in the latter category — in South Alabama’s win over Nicholls, and he was also credited with two other quarterback hurries.  His first forced fumble came immediately after a 77-yard kickoff return gave NSU the ball at the USA-20 early in the second quarter, and later in the period the defensive end forced another fumble that USA recovered at the Colonels’ 23-yard line; the second takeaway resulted in a field goal that gave the Jags the lead at the half.  Allen’s three forced fumbles lead the Sun Belt Conference, while he has accounted for 3½ of the Jaguars’ five sacks the opening month of the season.
