Messer was named first-team all-South Region for the first time in her career last week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, adding to a list of 2016 accolades for the senior that also includes being selected first-team all-Sun Belt Conference as well as to the league's all-tournament team. The Mobile, Ala., native — who was picked 31st overall by the Akron Racers in the National Pro Fastpitch Draft in April — ended her final campaign at the collegiate level as the Jaguars' leader in batting average (.429), hits (76), runs (48), triples (5) and slugging percentage (.548), setting new season records in batting average and hits.
