Making his first career start, Hawkins led the team — sharing game-high honors — with nine total tackles while also breaking up two passes as USA opened the season with a 10-point win at Kent State.  His sack in the KSU end zone midway through the opening quarter provided the Jaguars with their first points of the year, also giving the team the lead for good, as his efforts help the unit allow just 277 total yards including only 64 on 28 carries.  The senior helped stop the Golden Flashes’ opening drive with a tackle one yard short of the first down, as well as their last possession of the period and their first of the second half with a passes defensed.
