Newton won a pair of matches in straight sets in the Sun Belt Championships to run her spring record to a perfect 18-0. In the Jaguars' 4-0 first-round victory over Louisiana at Lafayette, Newton defeated Tara Vasovic 6-3, 6-0 to complete the sweep. She added her 19th consecutive win dating back to the fall against Middle Tennessee when she downed Nayara Moraes 6-4, 6-4. Newton added an 8-2 doubles victory with Mariya Krachok vs. ULL.
