Jags Drop Saturday Contest to Bulldogs

MOBILE, Ala. - South Alabama (11-4) dropped the Saturday match-up with Louisiana Tech (9-7) by a final score of 2-6. The series finale marks the second rubber match of the season for South Alabama.


PRIMARY THREADS
  • Junior right-hander Ryland Bozenhard made his first start in a Jaguar uniform and delivered a strong 5.2 inning outing. The lone run allowed came in the first inning on an RBI single.
  • Blake Guerin hit his fifth homer of the season in the second inning to left center field to tie the game at one apiece.
  • Brennon Wright knocked in Rett Johnson, who reached on a perfect bunt single in the home half of the fifth.
  • The Bulldogs would pull away in the last third of the game when they plated two in the seventh, one in the eighth, and two more in the ninth.

"Hate to say it but we wasted a great start from Ryland Bozenhard. We weren't good enough offensively today, we just need to score more than that. We didn't pressure them at all. I'll give their guy credit, he did a good job being out of the zone and in the zone when he had to be. But we just did not make our opportunities today, and got beat late out of the bullpen."


ON DECK
The Jags are set for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch tomorrow, March 8. Junior right-hander Daniel Gonzalez (1-0, 1.59 ERA) will make his fourth Sunday start while Brooks Roberson (2-1, 2.35 ERA) is the probable for Louisiana Tech.
