INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – South Alabama men's basketball will open play in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) on Tuesday, March 17, at 9 p.m. CT against Auburn in Neville Arena. The Jags will compete in the NIT for the first time since 2007 and make their first postseason appearance since 2022.

South Alabama enters its fifth NIT appearance in program history carrying a 21–11 overall record and securing back-to-back 20-win campaigns for the first time since the 2008–09 season.
The Jaguars are led by Sun Belt Player of the Year Chaze Harris, who paced the conference in scoring at 18.9 points per game and elevated that mark to 22.0 points per game in league play. Harris scored in double figures in 29 games, recorded a conference-best three 30-point performances, totaled 12 20-point outings (third-most in the Sun Belt), and added seven 25+ point games throughout the season.
Alongside Harris, Adam Olsen earned Second Team All-Sun Belt honors after scoring 502 total points, ranking fifth in the conference while averaging 16.7 points per game. The senior forward led the Sun Belt with 102 three-pointers made, shooting 39.5 percent from beyond the arc, while ranking among the national leaders in three-pointers per game.
The Jags face Auburn for the 13th time in program history and the first time since December of 2020. The Tigers have been led by Keyshawn Hall, who contributes 19.8 points per game, while Tahaad Pettiford has averaged 15.5 per contest this year.
