Jags Post Three Event Wins, Multiple All-Time Marks at LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – South Alabama Track & Field turned in a strong showing at the LSU Opener on Saturday, highlighted by three event wins, multiple podium finishes, and several marks that moved up the program's all-time performance list.

The Jaguars were led by a pair of field event victories from Iyana Johnson and Terek Logan. Johnson continued her dominant outdoor campaign, winning the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.06m (39-6.75) while also adding a runner-up finish in the hammer throw at 56.39m (185-0). Logan cleared 5.25m (17-2.75) to claim the men's pole vault title, continuing his strong run among the nation's top vaulters.

In the throws, South Alabama added another victory as Calli Stokes captured the women's javelin title with a throw of 42.23m (138-6). Dawson Wright followed with a second-place finish in the shot put at 14.35m (47-1.00), moving into ninth in program history. On the men's side, Samuel Mika and Reuben Booysen placed third and fourth, respectively, in the hammer throw with marks of 58.87m (193-1) and 58.62m (192-4), while Mika also recorded a fifth-place finish in the shot put.

The jumps group continued to produce, as Kayden Engel earned a runner-up finish in the high jump with a season-best clearance of 1.75m (5-8.75). Jamie Willis added a second-place finish in the long jump (5.68m / 18-7.75) and also placed in the top six of the 100m hurdles, while Aubrey Evans contributed a third-place finish in the high jump.

On the track, the Jaguars showed depth across multiple events. Jordan Morrison led the way with a third-place finish in the 800 meters, clocking 1:50.76 — the fifth-fastest time in program history. In the 400m hurdles, Nieko Garnes and Omari Taylor placed fourth and fifth with times of 52.60 and 53.10, respectively. In the sprints, Avery Childress paced the Jags in the 200 meters with a time of 21.20, while Marlon Miller led the 400 meters group with a 47.90 performance.

South Alabama also saw a strong showing in the hurdles, with four athletes finishing in the top eight of the women's 100m hurdles, led by Presleigh Montalvo (13.74), whose time ranks third all-time in program history. On the men's side, Jadon Thomason, Kelvin Jones and Samuel Warriner finished within five hundredths of each other in a tightly contested 110m hurdles race.

South Alabama will split squads next weekend, competing at both the Florida State Relays and the Raleigh Relays on Thursday and Friday, March 26-27.
