MOBILE, Ala. – After delivering one of the most dominant individual seasons in program history, South Alabama senior guard Chaze Harris has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Sun Belt honors, the league office announced Monday. Junior forward Adam Olsen was also recognized as an All-Sun Belt Second Team selection.
Harris' Player of the Year campaign was defined by elite scoring production, efficiency, and clutch performances throughout conference play. He led the Sun Belt in scoring at 18.9 points per game and elevated that mark to 22.0 points per game in league action. Harris scored in double figures in 29 games, recorded a conference-best three 30-point performances, totaled 12 20-point outings (third-most in the Sun Belt), and added seven 25+ point games. He erupted for 38 points twice this season — against ULM and Arkansas State — showcasing his ability to take over games at the highest level.
In conference play, Harris ranked third in assists per game (4.7) and second in steals per game (1.9), highlighting his all-around impact. He recorded 15 games with five or more assists, maintained a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio, and averaged 31.6 minutes per game while consistently impacting winning on both ends of the floor.
Olsen proved to be one of the most dynamic and durable scorers in the Sun Belt, totaling 502 points (fifth in the conference) while averaging 16.7 points per game and 17.1 in league play. He led the conference with 99 three-pointers made, tying the program's single-season record set in 2002, and ranked 17th nationally in threes per game (3.30). His 39.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc led the Sun Belt and ranked 59th nationally.
In conference play alone, Olsen knocked down 61 threes (second in the league) at a 37.2 percent clip. He led the Sun Belt with 15 20-point performances, added five 25+ point games, and scored in double figures 22 times. Olsen led the Sun Belt in minutes per game (36.2) and averaged 39.1 minutes in conference play, ranking 25th nationally while logging 1,085 total minutes this season. H
Harris' First Team selection and Player of the Year honor mark one of the most significant individual achievements in recent program history, as he became the first Jaguar to be named Sun Belt Player of the Year since Augustine Rubit in 2013. Olsen's Second Team recognition further highlights one of the most efficient and prolific shooting seasons by a Jaguar in more than two decades.
